The three-day Hortobágy Equestrian Days program series, the largest summer event of the plain, begins today with show jumping and dressage competitions and horse shows organized at the Máta horse track.

The equestrian days are organized again after two years of forced rest, according to the organizers, their main goal is to introduce the past and present of the pastoral culture characteristic of Hortobágy, as well as the work of the horse breeder and the collection of teeth of the Máta stud.

During the 54th Equestrian Days, six hundred riders will compete with around a thousand horses on the steppe, in addition to the equestrian programs, four hundred dancers will entertain the guests, children will be entertained with various handicraft programs, and there will be no shortage of traditional steppe food simmering in pots either: during the three days, around four mazas The shepherd's dishes at the foot of the Nine-Hole Bridge are made from gray beef and rack meat.

In addition to the national and international showjumping competition, a colt championship is also held, and the Hortobágyi Vágta, the regional qualifying race of the National Vágta, starts on Saturday, the winners of which can compete in the autumn competition in Budapest.

The cog-driving show can be expected to be a great success with the audience this year as well as the stallion driving to live music: the mare-stud and the foals born this year dazzle the audience with their musical frolicking at sunset.

In honor of the 50-year-old dance hall movement this year, the organizers are preparing a large-scale open-air dance hall in the equestrian arena in Hortobágy. Joining the program, the Carpathian Basin dance hall starts to the music of the Bürkös band, where the audience is also made to dance.

In the children's horse-riding village, stilt walkers, puppet shows, storytelling, theater performances, children's dances and cotton candy clouds are waiting for the youngest, and sixty folk artists, folk craftspeople, and craftsmen will offer their crafts at the crafts fair.

The Muzsikás Együttes will also perform on Hortobágy horse days: the band will play popular songs of the dance hall movement, to which young and old, old and young can dance long into the night on Hortobágy.
