Magyar Hírlap conducted a short interview Paolo Borchia , the representative of the Italian League. The politician's opinion is that the concept of the rule of law and EU resources are being misused in Brussels.

MH: – What is your opinion about the left-liberal attacks raining down on the Hungarian government, which we heard in the debates on Wednesday?

– It should be debated on the basis of common sense, but instead they misuse the concept of the rule of law and EU resources to exert political pressure on countries whose governments they do not agree with. The double standard is shown by the fact that not a word was said about the threat Muslim immigration poses to homosexual people in Europe. It seems that the European Parliament doesn't want to solve problems, it just looks for an excuse to attack governments it doesn't like.

MH: – What face did Fidesz's former party family, the European People's Party, show?

- The European People's Party is just one left-wing faction among many. These debates also made it obvious that European center-right, Christian Democrat voters deserve better than the People's Party.

MH: - According to several of your fellow representatives, the European Commission exceeds its powers with its criticisms.

– The legislation criticized by them falls under national competence. It is a dangerous attitude towards democracy if member states can be judged according to the political tastes of Brussels. I don't understand why the committee can interfere in the internal affairs of member states, in the decisions of democratically elected governments and parliaments.

MH: – The declaration signed by sixteen right-wing parties, including Fidesz and the League, regarding the future of Europe was also discussed in the parliament. What is the next step?

– This is still malleable: some of the parties have a clear idea of the importance of the process of unification, others do not. One thing is certain: it is very beneficial for the establishment if the patriotic, identitarian parties do not unite in a large group.
