The 20th Transilvania International Film Festival (TIFF) will take place until next Sunday at seventeen locations, with 165 films being screened. The review, which arrived for its festive edition, brought back to Cluj the bustle and bohemianism before the epidemic. There are masks and temperature checks at the screenings in the main square, but last year's strictness has been relaxed, this year only the testing and vaccination center set up reminds us that there is still an epidemic.

This year's 20th edition of TIFF, which runs until the first of August, started on Friday evening in the traditional way, on the Main Square, with the difference that in addition to Cluj, 19 other towns also celebrated. The opening film could be seen all over Transylvania, even if the start in Cluj was a bit delayed compared to the other locations. At the opening gala, the 1,500 seats proved to be almost insufficient.

The opening gala did not lack show elements either, the Amadeus band from Bucharest delighted the large audience with pop-infused classical music, while the Italian artist group Corona Events performed spectacular stunts. At this year's edition of TIFF, 165 works will be screened at the 17 locations, the authors of which came from more than 40 countries, including India, the United States, and Spain, which was declared a red zone a few days ago.

From a Hungarian point of view, Wednesday's Hungarian day is the most promising, when the latest film of director István Szabó, who won a Lifetime Achievement Award at TIFF, Final Report will be screened. The colorful Hungarian selection also includes a competition film, Lilli Horváth's Felkészúlys for an indefinite period of time together, but Cluj-Napoca's Cecília Felméri's first major feature film, Spirál, will also be shown.
