Atheists in Hungary announced the children's clinic because of a prayer movement!

The head of the Hungarian Atheist Society denounced GOKVI (the György Gottsegen National Cardiovascular Institute) for starting an intercessory prayer movement for healing with HUF 250,000 from the institute's foundation, Képmás reported.

The Atheist Society, since its members believe exclusively in secular humanism and science, expects the same from every state institution, every organization operated with state money, every public space and public event - that is, actually every person as soon as they step out the door of their apartment. What's more, the behavior of some atheists condemning infant baptism indicates that even inside the apartment, Képmás reports.

The paper points out that the current campaign started lawsuits following the example of Madalyn Murray O'Hair and the American Atheist Society, as a result of which prayer and Bible reading were banned in public schools in America. The company also filed a lawsuit against NASA, for example, to prevent the worship of astronauts landing on the moon, the newspaper reports.

"We have made it possible for those who want to pray for the patient's relatives to do so. /…/ Believers don't care if there is scientific evidence. In fact, non-believers are interested in whether prayer has healing powers. Those who demand scientific evidence for this are actually not allowing their fellow believers to practice their religion freely.” When faced with diseases and the finitude of life, people become more receptive to the transcendent. The prayer said for their sick relatives, a chain of prayers, is a spiritual and affirming act. According to Angéla Gui, GOKVI's communications director, "the many affirming stories confirmed that we should help the possibility of starting the prayer chain", stated Zsolt Prodan, head of the Department of Pediatric Cardiac Surgery.

The President of the Republic, János Áder, and his wife, Anita Herczegh, assumed the patronage of the "Prayer of our Heart" movement.

According to the president of the new atheist society, Tamás Waldmann: "The new atheism is not like the old one. The new atheism will never keep its mouth shut, it will not pretend for the sake of peace that churches and sects are often not criminal organizations serving the authorities. We will not pretend that religion in itself is something worthy of respect. We attack faith, irrationality, oppressive, bigoted and fundamentalist views. People have dignity, their views do not," reads one of the quoted blog posts of the Hungarian Atheist Society.

The aim of the new atheists is to create a "new" society that "relies on the results of common sense, science and philosophy instead of religion and traditions" - however, there is no place for religious people in this, they claim.

"Religious people who read ancient soap operas and believe in them are just child-brained, human children, their brains actually run according to a faulty program," writes a militant atheist author on the company's blog.
