The government wants the increase of the minimum wage to HUF 200,000 to be implemented by the first of January next year, and if this happens, then from 2022 the minimum wage in Hungary will be higher than the average wage during the administration of Ferenc Gyurcsány, the minister in charge of the Prime Minister's Office announced in Budapest . the Government Information.

Gergely Gulyás said: the government listened to the Minister of Finance's information about the minimum wage negotiations, which are being conducted with employers and employees.

He indicated that the national consultation set a clear task in this matter, in which 94 percent of the respondents took a position in favor of the 200,000 HUF minimum wage. The minimum wage in 2010 was HUF 73,500, so it would be a great achievement if it could reach HUF 200,000 by January 1, 2022.

The government managed to exceed its promise to create as many jobs as the coronavirus will eliminate, since according to the latest data, 4 million 704 thousand people work in Hungary. Gergely Gulyás emphasized: never in the past 31 years, since the regime change, have there been so many active workers in Hungary.

He evaluated it as follows: the economic growth figures in the third quarter also give reason for confidence, and tourism had a unique record in the summer. He said: the government therefore hopes that there will be a 5.5 percent increase, which is the condition for families raising children to be able to get their personal income tax back to the level of the average wage after this year at the beginning of next year.
