In October 2006, peacefully celebrating Hungarians were beaten to death on the streets of Budapest. On the orders of Ferenc Gyurcsány, then Prime Minister, Minister József Petrétei and the then Budapest Chief of Police, Péter Gergényi, they were shot with rubber bullets and tear gas grenades were thrown against them. They pushed helpless citizens to the ground, kicked them and clubbed them with rubber bands. They took off their identification badges from the police and turned them against us.

Even in the midst of the horrors, many celebrants had phones, cameras, cameras in their hands: thousands of photos, film and sound recordings were made.

A decade and a half has passed since the fall of 2006.

In order to give weight to the violence committed against us, the XXI. Század Intézet appeals to all our compatriots who were present, who experienced and recorded the brutalities. We ask them to send their photos, films, and audio recordings so that no one can ever claim that none of this happened!
