In Brussels, they want to suffocate Hungary by withdrawing resources, but the threat of the bureaucrats will be little against a thousand-year-old nation. Nicolas Bay, MEP representative of the French National Compact, deputy leader of the Identity and Democracy group, told Magyar Hírlap this. We quote from the interview.

The left wing of the European Parliament, including the People's Party, shows absolutely no real interest in what is actually happening in Hungary. They only want to punish the government deemed too conservative, they want to impose their own progressive whims on the Hungarian people. We must not forget the original reason for the attacks on Hungary and Poland. There was not much talk about the rule of law before six years ago Poland and Hungary opposed the reform of the European asylum system, which wanted to distribute migrants according to a mandatory quota. The rule of law debate is therefore just an excuse to break the countries that resist the dictates of Brussels.

It is enough to look at the countless resolutions and decisions that are voted by the majority of the European Parliament. Every two months, Hungary and Poland are debated in the plenary sessions, and they are always found guilty of imaginary attacks on the rights of women, migrants, LGBT people, and freedom of speech. The left constantly demands sanctions and financial penalties against Hungary. Who would believe that when they come to Budapest, they judge the situation objectively? They come to promote their ideology and campaign against Fidesz.

"What is your purpose with this trip?"
"First of all, I'm looking for the truth."
To this end, I will of course participate in the planned meetings together with my colleagues in the European Parliament. In parallel, I myself plan meetings with academics, journalists, conservative NGOs and government officials. I want to create a complete and honest picture of the situation, which I can then report on in Brussels. I also want to do pedagogical work in France, because they repeat too many lies about Hungary, without the slightest knowledge. You may remember that three years ago, Emmanuel Macron simply fired the French ambassador in Budapest for daring to send a report on reality. Our ambassador, Éric Fournier, drew attention to the worrying and irrational Hungarian phobia that characterizes the mainstream media and the Western political class. Because of this, he was replaced the very next day.

For my part, I am not a civil servant, but a representative elected by the French people. Emmanuel Macron cannot silence me, I will tell you what I see.

– What do you think of the official program of the visit?
Biased or unbiased? – For now, we only have a preliminary program, but it is already instructive. We spend eight hours talking to twenty-five specifically left-wing factors - NGOs, think tanks, academics, media, international organizations - and one hour and forty-five minutes with the opposition coalition and the mayor of Budapest. Four hours and fifteen minutes for government officials and three hours and eighteen for conservative organizations and the press product - barely ten minutes each!
