We quote from the interview.

He called the film Elk*rtuk a political crime based on real foundations.
Isn't it more of a campaign film? There is no question about it, political crime fiction covers a genre definition anyway, it means the same thing everywhere in the world: it tells a story based on reality. We also tried to stick to strict genre frameworks.

For fifteen years, the Hungarian public has not known what the "real foundations" are, how, by whom and why the Ószöd speech was leaked.
Will we be smarter after the movie? As a bigger than average consumer of news, I thought I knew everything possible about this series of events. However, as we got more and more involved in the preparation, we collected data and conducted interviews with the people involved, so far unknown documents and recordings reached us. Among the data that came into our possession, there was a lot that frankly shocked me.

Can I have a little spoiler?
Will we find out the truth? I believe that what happened then, and what the media reported on, is only the tip of the iceberg.
Now we have seen behind and below the machinations, so it will be clear from the film how much the leak was spontaneous or pre-planned. Although it is not a documentary or a report, and in that sense we do not explain, we only tell a story, but for the viewer, many things that have been in the dark about the scandalous series of events will make sense. We processed everything thoroughly and faithfully, and we stuck to the facts. So there are answers to the questions, but they are not given by us, but by the story itself. Returning to the original question: the task of the film is not to send a message and make statements, but to present an exciting, human story by outlining the real framework in the most authentic way possible.

"Young people today think of Ferenc Gyurcsány as a good-natured, guitar-playing guy who sometimes appears in discos;
even though he committed the biggest political crimes of the period after the regime change," he said earlier. This is precisely the image that Fidesz wants to paint of the president of the DK in the campaign. Coincidence? Don't mix things up!
I am not a politician, and this is a movie made for the fifteenth anniversary of an event that had a decisive impact on Hungarian public life and society. Nothing more. Even if someone doesn't like it. It is said countless times in the parliament, especially by the DK representatives, that the whole Ószöd scandal should be forgotten, it is history. For a long time, I have had a problem with our film culture, that we only shamelessly "talk" about our history, be it about the conquest, Mohács, Trianon, the Second World War or the recent past. As if we have something to hide. This is not the case in other countries, they can even present people who are alive today through fictional works, just think of the English series The Crown or the movie about Berlusconi.

It only matters that he has a rather harsh opinion of Gyurcsány.
If we abstract a little from the film: someone who gains power by fraud and then keeps it by force has nothing to consider for me.
What Gyurcsány did was simply treason. At least in our country, that's what they call it when someone admits to lying to an entire country, and then provokes even bigger trouble for no reason, beats and humiliates people, and ruins their lives. We can be subtle, but there is no other term for that in a normal democracy.

In the DK or even in the MSZP, but now they don't think so in Jobbik either.
Shouldn't their sympathizers even sit in the movie? On the contrary. I can only recommend them to watch it. I note that for the time being the discussion is not even about the work, but only about its subject. My excellent producer colleague Dorottya Helmeczy once said to such a question: we make a children's film at Christmas and a political thriller before an election - that's when there is interest. We primarily wanted to create a great and successful film, and Őszöd is still in the public mood today, the subject of public discourse. I am convinced that the end result was excellent, and I am especially sorry for those who stigmatize themselves in advance. We don't want to confront, but to make you think and entertain.

Postscript: According to yesterday's news, a criminal complaint will be filed against the Gyurcsány commando by Gáborek Kálomista due to the sabotage provocation of the Elk.rtuk. A producer named Gábor Kovács suggested on his social media page that as many of his followers as possible book tickets for Elk.rtu, but not buy them or go to it. Therefore, if people check on the Internet whether there are tickets and see that there are none, they will not go to the cinema, and as a result: Gábor Kovács hopes that there will be no spectators at Elk.rtuk's screenings.
