Another audio recording refutes the previous claim of the Karácsonys: the capital's political decision-making could still be in favor of the sale of the City Hall in May 2021. Previously, the Karácsonys said that they rejected the idea in November 2020.

The capital would sell a significant part of the City Hall plot as well as the buildings, and build a new building for the city administration on the remaining part of the area - this was revealed in a leaked audio recording on Friday.

From his complete denial to the fact that the Karácsonys only prepared a "study".

Although the Karácsonys previously labeled the sale of the City Hall as fake news, pathetic and "without any factual basis" , recording made public on Wednesday forced the capital's left-liberal leadership to take a turn in communication.

Since Wednesday, the Karácsonys have been defending themselves by saying that they only prepared a "study" when they discussed the sale of the City Hall, and at the meeting of the Budapest Cabinet on November 26, 2020, they decided that the City Hall property should remain the property of the Budapest Municipality.

Again, an audio recording refutes the leadership of the capital

On the other hand, released on Friday claims that

the conversation you can hear on the new recording took place on May 5, 2021, from 2 p.m.,

in the Attila út building of the capital's asset manager. In the recording, as before, Balázs J. Barts , Gyula Gansperger and Zsolt Berki . from J. Balázs Barts,

the CEO of the Budapest Capital Management Center Zrt. says that, although he was surprised, the capital's political decision-making is in favor of the sale of the City Hall.

As he says in the audio recording: "if there is anyone interested, we will sell the whole building", but in order not to have a large attack surface, the city administration would not leave the center, but only sell the building.

This part of the conversation sounded exactly like this:

“– And the reaction was, surprisingly, that's what the decision makers liked the most. That we don't leave here because it's too much of an attack to go out of the center. For me, this is obviously the best plot, the best buildable plot in the capital.(...) And if there is anyone interested, then we will sell the whole building, (...). I just want to say that what Gyula said, that the politicians are keeping us here".

He added:

“It would look something like this. So we have an old town hall and something new is being built next to it. The saying was that it could be! And then this decision was made."

You can listen to the full length of the recording again refuting the leadership of the capital below:
