This year, 2.3 million people offered one percent of their taxes. About 140,000 more people filed their personal income tax than last year. Civil organizations and churches will be able to get even more money next year, since the amount of the offering is increasing every year, and those involved will also receive the one percent lost due to the family tax refund, András Tállai informed MTI.

The parliamentary state secretary of the Ministry of Finance said that this year private individuals donated HUF 20.7 billion from their taxes to civil and church organizations and the National Talent Program. The amount offered increased by 10 percent compared to the previous year .

During the coronavirus epidemic, the offering is a huge help to churches and NGOs. This is precisely why the government decided that those affected can count on the one percent lost due to the family tax refund next year as well, the state secretary pointed out. Civil and church organizations receive this amount, as it is reimbursed by the state as budget support. The parents can therefore dispose of 1+1 percent of the tax to be reimbursed to them, concluded András Tállai.

There is a great need to make up for the lost one percent, since almost two million parents are entitled to the family tax refund, and families with children can count on a total of HUF 600 billion in extra income next year, explained András Tállai.

By midday on Friday, almost 210,000 people had already viewed and more than 134,000 people had filled out the declaration online, in which parents can send the data needed for the tax refund on February 15, 2022 - the State Secretary explained the latest data from the tax office. The so-called RETURN statement must be filled out and sent by December 31 this year only to those who are entitled to the family discount, but who do not receive the family allowance - reminded András Tállai.
