It recently became clear that the Kelenföld City Center building bounded by Etele út, Tétényi út and Vahot utca would be demolished, and its area would be sold by the Újbuda DK leadership together with Gergely Karácsony's Metropolitan Municipality, despite the protests of the locals.

After the left-wing majority of the Újbuda Self-Government swept away the proposals of the protesting civilians on all topics, the local patriots held a forum on Monday evening, but not a single concerned politician showed up. József Kiss, the founder of the Újbuda Civilians' Association, who is also the head of the organization called to life by the tenants of the City Center (Save the City Center Movement), spoke to Origo about the sale planned by the left. Kiss drew attention to it: nearly 7,000 people signed his petition, which states, "they don't want the capital and the district to hide public assets from their friends."

József Kiss said that "the task of the Újbuda and Capital Municipalities would be to take into account the interests of the citizens living in their administrative area and to act according to their needs. This City Center serves the needs of the people who live there, it was built so that the people there can shop, go to the pharmacy or to the shoemaker," he added.

The founder of the Újbuda Civilians Association also spoke about the fact that 15,000 people live in the catchment area within walking distance of the City Center,

THESE PEOPLE HAVE BEEN BETRAYED BY MAYOR GERGELY KÁRÁCSONY AND DK MAYOR IMRE LÁSZLÓ.

According to József Kiss

Gergely Karácsony entered the political arena for financial gain and now he is denominating public assets, selling off the City Center despite the interests of the citizens, without consulting the residents and the tenants.

The local patriot from Újbuda noted: a year ago, the Capital City Council abolished the Hall and Market Administration (CSAPI). The tenants had a contract with the Hall and Market Board.

ACCORDING TO JÓZSEF KISS, THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS WAS TERMINATED BECAUSE IT WOULD HAVE DIFFICULT TO SELL THE AREA.

This was replaced by an economic company, which is the legal successor only in terms of operation.

This means that we can safely say: the economic mafia in the capital planned the steps well, so that nearly 100 entrepreneurs who took out loans as a result of the epidemic last year and became indebted as a result, will practically be pushed into the abyss, he emphasized.

According to him

The Karácsonys tell lies when they talk about the desolation of the City Center, because the entire building has been renovated inside, since the tenants have spent hundreds of millions of forints on interior renovations in recent years.

According to József Kiss, the building needs external aesthetic renovation, this is a fact and true, with which everyone agrees. The citizen from Újbuda used the following analogy: "when our fence is rusty, we paint it and don't sell it to friends for good money".

The tenants don't want the sale, the residents don't want it, the NGOs don't want it - he emphasized the position of the locals.

Based on his opinion, the quality of life of the 15,000 people living there will deteriorate significantly due to the sale of the City Center, and in the case of a new investment lasting 3-5 years, the investor will want to sell the presumably cheap public property at a profit.

This practically exhausts people's trickery and deception. "Politicians cannot commit a greater betrayal of people than this, as they interfere in their lives," he emphasized.

In relation to the mayor of DK, he noted: Imre László promised in the 2019 election campaign that he would communicate and cooperate with the citizens, but in the last two years nothing of this has been realized, in fact, he regularly makes it impossible for the citizens to speak and ignores the the opinion of locals.

Fidesz was the only party behind the local initiative, the Újbuda Civilians' Association and the Save the City Center Movement jointly submitted a request for a ban on changes to the City Center, which the municipal body put on the agenda at the request of the Fidesz faction.

The left-wing leadership and Mayor Imre László also voted NO to this.

Afterwards, József Kiss reminded him that

AMONG THE DISTRICT LEFT-WING POLITICIANS STARTING AT THE GYURCSÁNY SHOW FILLED WITH PRIMARY ELECTIONS, GYULA MOLNÁR IS CURRENT MSZP NATIONAL ASSEMBLY REPRESENTATIVE, GY. DK DEPUTY MAYOR ERZSÉBET NÉMETH AND ÚJBUDA DEPUTY MAYOR ANNA OROSZ MOMENTUMOS ALSO SUPPORTED THE DEMOLITION OF THE CITY CENTER BUILDING AND THE SALE OF THE AREA.

The local patriot from Újbuda concluded his statement as follows: "The residents of Újbuda must decide whether they will continue to be silent or finally strike the table and stand up for their rights, because the City Center building does not belong to Gyula Molnár, Gergely Karácsony and Imré László. By abusing their power, these people would squander public wealth, but we will prevent this by all means."
