In her written question, Tímea Szabó turned to me with the surprising assumption that Óbuda University would start hotel or housing developments on the Római-parte. Finance Minister Mihály Varga began his post yesterday on his Facebook page, and then continued.

You can read my answer below:

Dear Madam Representative!

I would like to inform the Representative that Óbuda University has been relieved of significant burdens in the recent period. As a result of unfavorable PPP contracts concluded under the left-wing government, the university was forced to pay HUF 500 million annually to a private company for the use of one of the educational buildings and the student dormitory. Until now, the institution did not have any areas suitable for sports, they were also forced to rent them. However, with the change of the university model, it became possible to close this extremely disadvantageous situation: the state hands over properties to the university that can be used excellently for educational and sports purposes as well. Thanks to the increased resources, greater developments than ever before can begin at the university: more space will be given to the development of education and research, the resources available for scientific and innovative activities will increase, and the university sports life, which has been developing for a long time, will also reach a level.

I suggest to Ms. Képviselő that dubious hotel or housing construction deals should not be carried out in the developments of the University of Óbuda, but in connection with the City Hall scandal, the Mocsárosdűlő scandal, or the III. search around the 223-year-old Bivalyos csárda, which was sold below market price by the district mayor and then finally demolished.

In closing, allow me to wish you and your loved ones a blessed Christmas for the coming Christmas.

Sincerely:

Mihály Varga
