This year, too, the Advent Basilica in front of the St. Stephen's Basilica was chosen as the best Christmas market in Europe. After 2019, Budapest's Advent whirlwind emerged victorious for the second time in the online poll of the independent travel portal European Best Destinations.

In the ten-day online voting of the independent travel portal European Best Destinations, almost 25,000 votes were received for the Budapest event from 163 countries , the company communicating the award told MTI.

The final result of the competition was determined by 173,620 voters from 163 countries, most of whom voted from the United Kingdom. The Advent Basilica not only came out on top in the overall vote, but also proved to be the absolute favorite among those coming from England and the United States.

The Advent Basilica has been at the forefront of Europe for years: it was awarded the title of the best for the first time in 2019, and in 2020 it took second place in the poll.

The Christmas market, which can be visited until January 1, welcomes visitors for the eleventh time this year with a special selfie point, 3D light painting projected onto the Basilica, a free skating rink, and almost 100 craft and gastronomic exhibitors. For the sake of the visitors, the organizers have taken several measures that are stricter than the legal requirements.

You can enter the part of the fair closed off from downtown pedestrian traffic through gates, after checking your security card. In order to ease the crowd at the fair, additional smaller fair locations were created, where crowds cannot gather due to the conditions of the place.
