Gergely Karácsony did not go to the ceremonial opening of the House of Hungarian Music on Saturday because he had other things to do. In any case, it would have been cheesy for him if more photos had been taken of him with the renewed City Park in the background, which would have replaced the shots taken at the demonstrations, in which he can still be seen among the "park protectors" occupying the City Park. Therefore, as is his good habit, he commemorated the transferor of the House of Hungarian Music in a Facebook post, in which he described the building as a reminder of violence and oppression. And on Monday, he spoke on Klubrádio about the fact that from now on, it should be feared that the sycamores around the wood-killing building will dry up in ten years.
My concern is very strong that in 10 years, when we have become accustomed to and love this building, we will notice that the 100-year-old sycamore trees around it, whose water supply is now being destroyed by the building, will die one by one - said the disgust, fear and terror was given a new direction by the mayor, who was perplexed by the fact that if buildings are already being built, why are they not being built elsewhere. Gergely Karácsony is still unable to get rid of the misconception that the architectural traditions of the City Park are alien to the possibility of cultural entertainment, to which the history of the City Park itself is a living refutation. In any case, in the interview he talked about: the XXI. building in a park in the 20th century is really like peeing in the holy water tank in a church, so it fits in after all, it just destroys everything we are there for.
In his Facebook post, Bence Rétvári, the State Secretary of EMMI, condemned the mayor's words:
It is incomprehensible to common sense how someone would even think of something like this, why he connects his vulgar thoughts with church symbols, and why he says that such an act "fits in after all". Would this be the refined, inner-city, intellectual style? Do they still blame others for the roughening of the tone of public discourse? Do Christians really not deserve that much respect?
This sentence offends not only believers, but all people of good sense. Since the regime change, words that insult Christians to such an extent have left the mouths of few politicians. While Gergely Karácsony and the entire left educate everyone about tolerance morning, night and night, they constantly talk about "acceptance", "respect", and "love language", while insulting church symbols with an easy naturalness. Christians are also entitled to respect, church symbols cannot be the targets of crass political half-sentences.
It is scary to think that when Christians are talked about in public like this, what they can say behind closed doors. For weeks, the left has been continuously insulting new and new social groups.
Gergely Karácsony did not apologize after his insulting sentence. The well-known public figures of the left have remained silent, they do not protest, they do not petition, they do not call for an apology.
Gergely Karácsony follow all those he offended!
