Prime Minister Viktor Orbán received Margarítisz Szkínás, the Vice-President of the European Commission, in the Carmelite Monastery on Friday afternoon, informed Bertalan Havasi, the head of the Prime Minister's Press Office.

The topic of the discussion was the war in Ukraine and the resulting humanitarian crisis. The primary goal was the establishment of peace in Ukraine as soon as possible, as well as the fact that the European Union should always act unitedly during the efforts aimed at this.

The EU commissioner spoke highly of the helpfulness of the Hungarian authorities, civil organizations and Hungarian citizens , which they show towards the Ukrainian refugees, and which he personally experienced during his visit to the border.

He promised that the European Union would support these efforts.
