It is reassuring news that at Friday's meeting of the NATO foreign ministers, no decisions were made that would lead to a direct NATO-Russia conflict; the participants said: NATO is not a participant in the war - declared the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Brussels, after the extraordinary meeting of the foreign ministers of the NATO member states on Friday.

Péter Szijjártó emphasized: the ministers of the member countries said that everything must be done so that NATO does not become a part of the war, therefore NATO as an alliance will not supply weapons to this war. They also stated: everything must be done to prevent the war from spreading beyond Ukraine, to continuously reduce the chance of escalation, and to maintain communication channels with Russia in order to prevent any misunderstandings or irreversibly tragic decisions, he said.

" We Hungarians want peace more than anyone and for this war to end as soon as possible. The most important task now is to protect Hungary and the security of the Hungarian people, " he said. He pointed out: by protecting Hungary's territory, it also protects NATO's southeastern wing. The Hungarian National Guard can protect Hungary, it does not need additional forces .

Péter Szijjártó stated: the war situation in Ukraine is getting more and more serious and the resulting security risks have also increased. In such a situation, prudence, responsibility, common sense, and strategic calm are needed and, according to him, it is also not a problem if the decision-makers have experience in crisis management. Irresponsible statements can be very dangerous, so they should be avoided, he warned.

"We Hungarians must do everything we can to avoid getting involved or anyone getting involved in this war. That is why we do not send soldiers or weapons to the war, and we do not allow deadly weapons to pass through our territory in the direction of Ukraine. All of this would put Hungary and the lives of the Hungarian people in danger . The most important thing now is that no decisions or statements are made that could lead to a conflict between NATO and Russia, he underlined.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade also emphasized: Hungary's energy supply is in order, natural gas and crude oil deliveries are carried out in accordance with the relevant contracts. The utilization of the gas pipeline from Serbia is constantly increasing, gas is also arriving from Austria as usual, and natural gas transit through Hungary is also uninterrupted, he added. He also reported that the members of the third evacuation group are already in Ungvar, and preparations are underway for the temporary embassy in Lviv. Regarding the border situation, he said that the traffic can be managed at the crossings between Ukraine and Hungary, and the return of citizens of non-EU countries from Hungarian airports is smooth.
