The minister announced on the Government Information: they will make it possible to widen the legal status of the state of emergency due to the war going on next door.
Gergely Gulyás Gulyás, the Government Information Officer, first thanked everyone who participated in the election. There have been three exceptionally high turnouts since 1990, and all three were civilian governments: 70 percent of voters participated in 2002, 2018, and 2022. The new government has strong legitimacy, according to Gergely Gulyás, who especially thanked the more than 3 million people who voted for the government party.

The new government can be formed in the week of May 16, when the new government structure can be adopted, Gulyás said. Máté Kocsis can once again be the faction leader of Fidesz.
Emergency, war, epidemic
The number of serious coronavirus cases has decreased significantly in the past period, said Gulyás. He emphasized: the coronavirus is still with us, but the intensity of the disease has decreased.
The minister explained that the epidemiological emergency will end on May 31. The government, on the other hand, is initiating amendments to the Basic Law in order to ensure the cabinet's ability to act in the event of war, so the state of emergency would be supplemented by the case of a humanitarian disaster or a war conflict in a neighboring country. They will see if the development of events gives reason to declare a state of emergency.
More than 600,000 refugees have arrived so far, and the government is doing everything to ensure that those who want to stay here can start a new life, said the minister. The government spent HUF 600 billion on the protection of the southern border, and the cabinet spent HUF 40 billion on Ukrainian refugees. According to the minister, the European Union has so far paid 2 percent of the latter amount. In relation to the Ukrainian refugees, Alexandra Szentkirályi spoke about the fact that the civilians provide very serious help to the Ukrainian refugees. The total number of asylum applications was 17,000, and 100,000 requested a 30-day stay, he added. More than HUF 1 billion was received as part of the cooperation for the Bridge Subcarpathia, and more than 24,000 people visited the BOK hall.
Price stop
Despite all the difficulties, the Hungarian economy is on a stable footing, said Gulyás. At each price stop, the government will make a decision as to what their fate should be, but in their view, they basically worked, they moderated inflation. Without the price caps, inflation would be 13%, which is now 8.6%. The overhead reduction is 2, fuel by 1.5%, for example. According to Gulyás, inflation must continue to be moderated by government measures. In the fall of 2022, it is expected that inflation will decrease.
