Trianon's anniversary, June 4, has been the day of national unity since 2010. Kelemen Hunor's article written on the occasion of this day was published by Mandiner.

"The day of national unity is also the day of common language, common culture, common memory and common hopes, and of course common questions.

How can we think, plan and act together about the future of the nation so that it is not determined solely by the past and especially not by the 20th century? That the unchangeable yesterday does not dictate the rhythm of our steps, that unintentionally offending others, but also that the resulting excessive caution sets the limits of action, and that we do not offend the sensitivities of others?

How can we be together by living in several countries, how can we nurture our self-confidence and national pride with the necessary balance, modesty and moderation? Can we highlight everything that is different, that defines us, gives us our face, and is more than language, more than culture, and more than the common past?

Today, when answering, I would try the Hungarians, and within that the trans-sylvanics. To take into account everything that is ours and to show others what we are proud of, what we want to pass on and what makes us lovable by others.

Which is Hungarian and more.

Without which not only would we be poorer, but the world itself would be poorer.

For me, national unity also means that we will be successful. They are successful individually, the parts of the nation in their own homelands, but they are successful together in the Carpathian Basin and together in the wider world. And the hope keeps me alive that we will be able to build our future together, and that every Hungarian has a place in this."
