In recent days, three priests were kidnapped from the northern part of Nigeria. A few days earlier, the bodies of two other monks were found. The situation of Christian religious leaders is getting worse every day in Nigeria, reports Vasárnap.hu.

On the night of June 26, Christopher Odia Ogedegbe was found in Edo State, Nigeria. The priest was murdered on his way to mass that morning. At the same time, a Kaduna state chaplain, Vitus Borogo, was also killed at the Prison Farm along the Kaduna-Kachia road, Info Católica reports.

A few days later, on July 3, two other priests - Peter Udo and Philemon Oboh - were kidnapped by gunmen on the Benin-Auchi highway. There is still no information about their whereabouts.

And the next day, July 4, the Diocese of Kafanchan in Kaduna State issued a statement Emmanuel Silas . The father was kidnapped from his own parish.

ACN Italia expressed its indignation at what happened. They wrote: “Our community is praying for the victims and their families. However, social indignation is no longer enough" .

They called on the Nigerian authorities, international organizations and the country's most influential political forces: to take note of the Christian community, who make up 46 percent of society and who are the targets of continuous attacks. According to them, now is the moment to act to stand up for the safety of Christians.
