During the night, the police arrested two people smugglers and arrested 125 illegal migrants in larger groups in Csongrád-Csanád County.

The patrols of the Border Police Branch of Szeged and Kiszombor, in cooperation with the Hungarian Defense Forces and the Czech and Austrian police, arrested 112 illegal migrants in six cases between 10:00 p.m. on July 6 and 6:00 a.m. on July 7, 2022 in the administrative areas of Mórahalom and Kiszombor. During their inspection, the members of the groups claimed to be citizens of Syria, India, Tunisia, Afghanistan and Pakistan, but they could not credibly prove their identity or the legality of their stay in Hungary. The police acted against the border violators in accordance with the current Hungarian legislation.

On July 6, 2022, at 23:40 at 11:40 p.m. on the outskirts of Mórahalom, the patrols of the Szeged Border Police Branch, in cooperation with the soldiers and the Czech police, checked a German BMW 116D car driven by a man with Dutch citizenship. In addition to him, nine other men were traveling in the vehicle, who claimed to be Afghan citizens, but could not prove their identity or legal residence in Hungary.

Barely an hour later, the patrols of the Szeged Border Police Branch, also at the signal of the soldiers, in cooperation with the Czech police officers, checked a Polish Ford Focus passenger vehicle driven by a Ukrainian citizen on the outskirts of Domaszék. Four other men were traveling in the vehicle, who claimed to be Afghan citizens, but could not prove their identity or legal residence in Hungary.

The police brought the 50-year-old and the 33-year-old driver to the Szeged Border Police Branch, where proceedings were initiated against them due to the well-founded suspicion of human smuggling. Border violators were dealt with in accordance with current Hungarian legislation.

The crime of human trafficking is punishable by one to five years in the basic case, and by up to five to fifteen years in the classified case.
The organizer or controller of the crime may be punished with imprisonment from ten to twenty years.
