The startling claim is contained in the document 'Schools in Transition: A Guide to Supporting Transgender Students'.

In the chapter "Age and Grade" of the paper, the authors argue that "the student's age and maturity should never be the basis for denying a transgender student the opportunity to "transition".

The document also covers the role of teachers:

"Regardless of age, there are many activities and lessons that can effectively help students with their gender 'transition.' Educators, parents, and transgender students need to work together to find age-appropriate materials for these lessons.”

The author even notes that teaching children about transgenderism and the process of "transitioning" may be most beneficial at a young age, as children's minds can be shaped:

"in most cases, the thinking of younger students is more flexible than that of older students".

Joel Baum, Senior Director of Professional Development and Family Services at Gender Spectrum, is one of the authors of the document. It discovered that Baum was one of the facilitators of training organized in America's largest private schools on the topic of gender and sexuality.

The training was held in partnership with Gender Spectrum, an organization sponsored by the transgender surgeon company Align Surgical, which hosted online chat groups for minors and adults.
