For those who requested the transfer of their pension to a bank account, the mid-year pension increase will be transferred to their bank account on Tuesday, so more than one and a half million people will receive their benefits on July 12, the Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Finance (PM) informed MTI.

András Tállai stated that, in addition to pensioners, those receiving disability and rehabilitation benefits, orphans' benefits, widow's pensions, accident and disability pensions can count on the extra money arriving in July.

More than 60 percent of pensioners will receive money by transfer in July, he said. He added that approximately 900,000 pensioners and those receiving other benefits have chosen postal delivery, to whom the postman will deliver the pension or benefit increased by the additional increase and the retroactive correction on the usual calendar day. More and more people are choosing the transfer - pointed out the state secretary, who, according to him, may also play a role in the fact that while the amount of the pension and the accompanying pension supplement arrives in the bank account on July 12, the postal delivery takes until July 29.

András Tállai said that those who receive their pension by mail, but want to transfer it to a bank account, have a simple task: they can request it in person, in writing or, most simply, through the customer portal. For the latter, you only need to fill out a form called "notification of change of address, change of account number, change of transfer method", András Tállai detailed.

The state secretary recalled that the mid-year pension increase means a total of HUF 184 billion for almost 2.5 million pensioners. He reminded that pensions rose by 5 percent at the beginning of the year. If the financial loss is greater than this, according to the law, the state must pay pensioners a lump sum in November and back to January, he explained. The coronavirus epidemic, followed by the war in Ukraine, and wartime inflation have created new conditions - highlighted András Tállai, adding that in this situation the government is trying to help pensioners with all possible means. "Just like last year, the state is moving earlier this year, so those entitled will receive a mid-year supplementary pension increase already in July," he said.
