The military North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and the European Union have issued an alert due to the threat of arms smuggling in Ukraine, Világgazdaság reported, referring to information from the Financial Times . According to the newspaper, the Ukrainian government is creating a comprehensive weapons monitoring and tracking system with the help of Western countries, which will allow them to follow the path of not only incoming but also outgoing weapons.

The affected countries have been urged to pay more attention to the route of weapons shipments, because firearms and explosives can fall into unauthorized hands. The black market is flourishing in the arms trade, so an urgent solution is needed, the portal pointed out.

As early as June, Interpol warned that weapons sent to Ukraine could end up with European criminals, and that organized crime groups would grow stronger as the weapons became available.

This was confirmed by US Secretary of International Security Bonnie Denise Jenkins, who stated that the United States takes its responsibility for the hijacking or illegal distribution of US-made defense technologies extremely seriously. The case was also a topic at the meeting of the European Union's interior ministers this week.

According to the newspaper, the Ukrainian government is creating a comprehensive weapons monitoring and tracking system with the help of Western countries, which can be used to follow the path of not only incoming but also outgoing weapons.

According to the authorities, it is common for weapons sent to Ukraine to land in the southern part of Poland, from there they are taken to the border and spread out, and then transported on trucks and cars. Weapons will now be tracked and an accurate record of each item will be kept.
