On July 30, the Patriotic Bike Tour will be organized for the 48th time. This year's season is about rejuvenation, but at the same time, getting to know the values of nationalism and community building will also play a central role during the nine days.
Compared to previous years, the organizers of the national knowledge event stream have changed somewhat. In this regard Larisa Urbančok , the main organizer of this year's bicycle tour, explained to Felvidék.ma:
"We are thinking in terms of a kind of rejuvenation, we have brought back the old tradition, according to which at the end of each tour we select the organizer of the following year's tour."
This is how Larisa Urbančok became the main coordinator of this year's event.
As he added, this tradition lived until the beginning of the 2000s, and then László Köteles compiled the route and program of the tours for almost a decade. In recent years, the number of hikers has gradually decreased, and the average age of hikers has also steadily increased. It has become necessary to involve young people and rejuvenate the community of hikers. "Looking into the future, we want to address young people as effectively as possible, handing over the organization to the youth again," he reflected on the basic idea of the bike tour, which looks back on half a century of history.
The hiking route for the 2022 season was compiled in connection with this. Cyclists will get to know the natural wonders, built heritage and cultural values of the Danube region - Csallóköz - Mátyusföld during the nine days. The area is easily accessible. Thus, even those with less experience in cycling can complete the daily distances.
Today's university students, former university students, families with small children, and cyclists who want to explore are welcome to the tour.
The camping site of the National Awareness Bicycle Tour, which will take place between July 30 and August 7, will be the Nazvad thermal bath in the first stage of the tour, and then the Nyárasd thermal bath from Wednesday. They leave from here every day.
As the main organizer said: they cycle around 40 to 65 kilometers per day. Of course, all this is not done at the same time, the daily distance is broken up by stations.
In addition to the discovery of local values at each station, a local history presentation is also held every day. Under the guidance of professional guides, you can visit museum exhibitions, country houses, exhibitions, and you can see behind the scenes of the Jókai Theater in Komárom. In each settlement, well-known people connected to the place are commemorated, such as Miklós Konkoly-Teghe , Mór Jókai , Zoltán Kodály Ármin Vámbéry in Dunaszerdahely .
In the evenings, lighter, more entertaining programs are prepared at the camp site. On Monday, a family day is planned in Naszvad, and interested people from the local area and the surrounding area are also welcome. In addition to accommodation, the price of the tour also covers two meals a day.
"It is worth coming to the bicycle tour with a technically maintained bicycle," indicated the main organizer. He added: it is recommended to purchase a spare bicycle inner tire.
"The bike tour is not about the bikes, it's just a means of getting to the individual locations. The National Awareness Bike Tour is about programs and community life," Larisa Urbančok summed up her thoughts.
