We need to think rationally about climate change, not in an apocalyptic and panic-inducing way, writes Balázs Orbán on social media.

"It seems that in Germany what was a pleasant summer day 5 years ago now signals the coming of the end of the world. Climate change poses a very serious challenge to today's society. That is why it is essential to have a rational discussion on the subject in order to find a solution to the problem. And the misleading information and panic-mongering that appeared in the German news prevents rational discussion.

Environmental activist Michael Shellenberger - who recently visited Hungary for the launch of his bestseller Apocalypse NEVER - warned about the dangers of this kind of panic in his interview with the Neue Zürcher Zeitung the other day. He emphasized that while climate change is indeed a significant problem, panic and apocalyptic thinking are not the solution. According to him, we have to proceed with caution, because if we stop the use of energy, it could cause the stoppage of our entire civilization. So it's time to stop panicking and think rationally about climate change."
