All efforts must be made for the rise of Hungary and Hungarianness, the current work will determine "what kind of world we will live in when the storms are over", said the Minister of Finance in Szolnok, at the festive commemoration of the Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County Municipality on August 20, at which awards were presented and titles were given.

After receiving the Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County Honorary Citizen award, Mihály Varga said on behalf of the recipients of the award: one can only live and work according to a defining set of values.
He called it a blessing, "if we can see our results, if we can know, our work could help the development of our homeland, the progress of the Hungarian people". He is convinced - he said - that

the only way to do the work well and usefully for others is if we clearly see where we started from.

Mihály Varga also touched on the fact that Szent István, the founding king of our state, fought for the survival of the Hungarians throughout his life, and subordinated all his actions to this goal.

At that time, this step represented the future of Hungarians due to the external threat and internal fragmentation, he emphasized.

He said that our first king left us a country whose people have preserved their national character, their insistence on freedom and free decision. He also left us with the firm belief that we will not give up our values and faith even in the midst of storms, trials and threats.

The Minister of Finance highlighted:

even today, results can only be achieved with commitment, concentration on the goals and persistent work.

There is less and less hope for a quick end to the war in Ukraine, he said, noting that if peace in Ukraine is not achieved in the foreseeable future, we will face more serious difficulties than ever before. Those countries were able to get out of the crisis with the smallest losses, which built a strong economy and preserved their values even in difficult situations, he said.

Mihály Varga also spoke about the fact that in the second half of last year - primarily as a result of the previous crisis - the rise in raw material prices was already noticeable. Inflation appeared in almost every country in the world, "in the case of Hungary, this meant imported inflation," he said.

He added: this was compounded by the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian war and the related EU sanctions packages. At the same time, the growth prospects of the countries are deteriorating and the fear of the possibility of an economic downturn has also appeared, he indicated.

According to the minister

the fact that the Hungarian economy grew by 8 percent in the first quarter and by 6.5 percent in the second quarter is cause for confidence.

At the same time, he noted that, in addition to the global shortage of spare parts and rising energy prices, the growing inflationary pressure is also slowing down the economy in Hungary. And the Russian-Ukrainian war is an additional price-inflating force, further destroying supply chains, holding back recovery and growth, he said.

Mihály Varga stated: in the current situation, the most important task of the Hungarian government is to preserve the peace and security of the country. At the same time, the goal is also to preserve the results achieved through hard work: strengthening families, keeping jobs, protecting pensioners and maintaining economic growth, supporting investments - he listed, noting: we must also expect an increase in migration, which must also be protected against.

He emphasized: the Hungarian economy must stand its ground even in the deteriorating world economy. They are working to keep overhead costs down, jobs and record employment must be protected, he emphasized.

Mihály Varga said: he believes that in the midst of the changed circumstances, which have turned into a crisis in many respects, it is possible to prosper if we "preserve our independence, our values, keep our faith, and work with the perseverance and diligence we have done so far".

Imre Hubai , the chairman of the county assembly, announced: August 20 is the symbol of the unity of the Hungarian nation, the universal holiday of Hungarians; Saint István's legacy, firm faith and iron will serve as an example. He called the county of Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok one of the most dynamically developing regions in the country, and emphasized that the work must continue, preserving the values and strengthening the traditions.

The Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County Honorary Citizen award was awarded posthumously to Dr. Vitéz by the county assembly. also to Szabolcs Horthy of Nagybánya, the chief lord of the county who died a hero's death, the first lieutenant of the 13th Jász-Kun Hussar Regiment, the guardian of the Reformed diocese. The award was accepted by István Horthy and Éva Horthy on behalf of the family in Kenderes at the beginning of July.

At the ceremony, the awards for the Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County were presented, and several awards and titles were also awarded.
