Prime Minister Viktor Orbán traveled to Moscow on Saturday morning to pay his respects at the funeral of former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev, Bertalan Havasi, the prime minister's press chief, informed MTI.

The former head of state and general secretary of the party will be laid to rest in the Novogeevich cemetery in Moscow, before which the public ceremony will take place in the colonnade of the House of Trade Unions in Moscow.

The Hungarian delegation includes Fidesz politician Tamás Deutsch, historian Mária Schmidt, political director Balázs Orbán and lawyer and politician Imre Kónya, the press chief said.
Mikhail Gorbachev, the first and last president of the Soviet Union, died on August 30, at the age of 91, after a long and serious illness.
