The Presidency of the Momentum Movement decided today to suspend the party membership of Tibor Déri, mayor of Újpest, 444.hu from the party's statement. They write this about the reasons:
"Due to a recent crisis of confidence, Momentum's management initiated an investigation a few days ago to clarify the situation. Without waiting for the results of this investigation, Tibor Déri informed the Újpest faction association on September 5 that he would not run for the position of mayor in 2024. He did all this without the approval of Momentum management, further deepening the mistrust between the parties. It is for this reason that the Momentum presidency made its decision on the suspension."
The exact reasons are unclear, on Thursday afternoon a notice was received from a gmail account called Újpest Opposition Parties, in which representatives of Párbeszéd, MSZP, LMP, Jobbik and DK write, acknowledge and accept "Mayor Tibor Déri September 5, 2022- I, the announcement and decision made at the faction meeting in Újpest, according to which, as a father of three children, he will not run as a mayoral candidate in 2024 due to family reasons. They also write that Norbert Trippon is considered suitable to be the joint mayor candidate of the opposition.
