Hungary belongs to the peace camp, "I am a supporter of an immediate ceasefire and immediate peace negotiations," Prime Minister Viktor Orbán declared on Tuesday in Berlin at an event organized by the Cicero public magazine and the Berliner Zeitung daily.

He said: Hungary has already lost around 200 citizens who died as enlisted soldiers on the front. The prime minister called it a big problem that, unlike the Crimean one, the conflict could not be isolated this time. He said it was a mistake that while he was on a peace mission with Russian President Vladimir Putin before the war, no one on the Western side felt the need to negotiate.

In the war in Ukraine, the ceasefire should not be established between Ukraine and Russia, but between the United States and Russia , based on the realities of power, it should be negotiated with the Americans, the Prime Minister declared. As he explained, the essence of war is resources, and while the Russians have almost unlimited resources in terms of energy, soldiers and human resources, Ukraine only has enough resources because of the help of the West and the United States. The Prime Minister also stated that US President Joe Biden went too far when he called Russian President Vladimir Putin a war criminal or a mass murderer, among other things. According to him, the hope for peace is former US President Donald Trump.

The sanctions policy of Brussels against Russia is primitive in its implementation and catastrophic in its effect, emphasized Viktor Orbán. Talking to Alexander Marquier and Holger Friedrich, the prime minister emphasized that if the sanctions had been properly implemented, the price of energy would not have skyrocketed, and the European economies would not be threatened with ruin. As he said, sanctions should only be imposed "intelligently". In contrast, the EU's policy towards Russia shows that "a dwarf sanctions a giant" and "the dwarf dies". He underlined that the policy of sanctions must be reconsidered and an energy supply system must be established in which the EU not only "changes hands", i.e. replaces Russian dependence with the American one, which is "politically convenient, but not good", but also gains independence .
