In the past three decades - thanks to the late president József Halzl - the Gloria Victis 1956 memorial ceremony has become the largest and most emblematic event of the Rákóczi Association.

The event, which takes place in Budapest, commemorates the Hungarian youth freedom fighters of 1956 with the participation of thousands of high school and university students from the Carpathian Basin. On October 22, the central element of the event this year was the commemoration in the auditorium of the University of Applied Sciences, after which more than 2,000 students from the home country and abroad marched in a torchlight procession along the historical route to Bem Square, where the commemoration ended with a wreath-laying ceremony.

CÖF-CÖKA also participated in the event.

We recall some moments of the event with the recordings of Tamás Kovács, MTI's photographer.
