Katalin Cseh, Momentum's representative, in her speech in the European Parliament last week regarding the World Cup in Qatar, stated that she "must condemn FIFA and the host country in the strongest possible way", including because the players were punished for wearing the rainbow armband. The flash interview of vasarnap.hu asked István Simicskó, the faction leader of the Christian Democratic People's Party, about the incident.
Sports should not be about politics. The athlete should play sports, the soccer player should play soccer. - said István Simicskó, a representative of the KDNP, who also explained in his answer that the political lobby forced into the World Cup in Qatar created a storm in a glass of water, which makes no sense at all.
"What a Momentum representative thinks about the world and what he thinks about football should be his business." - said István Simicskó.
The representative of the Christian Democratic People's Party emphasized that sport - in addition to competition - is also about respect. Sport does not need extra elements, party political goals, or messages.
