The chief rabbi was upset by the Wall Street Journal's anti-Semitic article against Orbán. Hungarian Jewry is experiencing another heyday, and the government of Hungary gives special support to the Hungarian and Hungarian-speaking Jewish communities across the border, Róna Tamás told Mandiner.

As the paper previously wrote: according to an article published on The Wall Street Journal, anti-Semitism is on the rise in the United States and globally. The author believes that, based on recent events, it is clear that hatred of Jews is not limited to a single group, just as politicians associated with anti-Semitism are connected to different circles.

According to the article, both British left-wing politician Jeremy Corbyn and right-wing Prime Minister Viktor Orbán define themselves as opponents of Jewish power.

In connection with the clause concerning the Hungarian Prime Minister, Mandiner contacted Chief Rabbi Tamás Róna, the president of the Magyarhoni Jewish Congregation, Zsima, who has previously commented on issues affecting public life several times.

According to Róná, he was deeply affected by the article, both as chief rabbi and as a Hungarian. “I would highlight two important aspects of this document; on the one hand, such and similar newspaper articles incite anti-Semitism even further. On the other hand; I myself have always sought to cooperate with the current Hungarian government," said Róna.

He added in recent years

Hungarian Jewry is experiencing another heyday, the government of Hungary gives special support to Hungarian and Hungarian-speaking Jewish communities across the border,

it supports the publication of Jewish textbooks, renovated synagogues throughout the country, and also continuously supports the religious life of Hungarian Jews abroad. "For me, this attitude is helpful and not anti-Semitic," said the head of Zsima.
