The opposition Smer-SD files a criminal complaint with the Prosecutor General's Office for abuse of official authority regarding the decision of the mandated government on the delivery of MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine, reports Felvidék.ma.

The party to Boris Kollár (Sme rodina), the speaker of the parliament, to check whether the government has exceeded its authority, as Smer-SD considers the intergovernmental agreement with Ukraine to be of a military nature. Robert Fico pointed out at a press conference that such agreements require parliamentary approval, which must be ratified by the head of state.

"Nobody presented any legal analysis on which the government made its decision. We continue to believe that the decision of the government and the president of the republic is unconstitutional," said Fico. The cabinet and Zuzana Čaputová also committed the crime of abuse of office, he said, adding that he insists that

the donation of military equipment is an important foreign policy issue that cannot be decided by a mandated government.

According to Fico, the gift of fighter jets is an unnecessary political gesture. According to him, five operational combat aircraft will not change the course of the war. He sees the decision as an openly hostile move towards Russia. He asked what led the government and the head of state to agree to hand over the machines. In his opinion

this drags Slovakia into a military conflict.

The party still rejects Slovakia providing any military aid to Ukraine , but agrees with humanitarian aid, aid in the reconstruction of the country or assistance to refugees.

Michaela Jurcová , the spokeswoman of the parliament, said that the government informed the president of the parliament that the classification of international contracts is determined by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. "Regarding the above-mentioned decision of the government, the ministry delivered the official document to the government, in which it confirms that it is not a contract of a military nature, therefore the parliament has nothing to discuss on this issue," the spokesperson told the TASR news agency .

Eduard Heger decided to hand over 13 MiG-29 fighter jets and a part of the Kub air defense system to Ukraine. Heger stated that the international agreement is in accordance with the constitution, and the government approved it unanimously. He emphasized that the equipment serves to protect the civilian population. He rejected claims that Slovakia was entering the war with this decision.

civilek.info:

This Slovak government (prosecutor!!!) is interesting. Apparently, they consider it sufficient to declare that the handover of the planes is not of a military nature. So what kind is it? Is the MiG-29 not a fighter, but a paper kite? Isn't a fighter jet "military"? Then it must be a hummingbird, a gift from the Slovak government to Ukrainian children. We have feathers on our backs because they see us as birds. Come on!
