"In the light of everything, we consider David Pressman's procedure to be tasteless and seriously provocative, and we classify it as one of the many actions expressed by the Democratic party administration of the United States, which are increasingly openly attacking the anti-war position of the conservative Christian-Democratic Hungarian government, which prioritizes the Hungarian national interest, despite the alliance relationship"

Tamás Deutsch wrote in his letter to his fellow European Parliament members. He added: "In line with our political stance of rejecting any attempt at external intervention in the European Union, we condemn Pressman's tasteless provocation in the strongest possible terms."

He recalled that David Pressman, , invited Márton Gyöngyösi parliament, to the Seder dinner held at the US Embassy in Budapest on the occasion of the Jewish Passover as vice-president, he participated as an observer in the illegal pro-Putin referendum held in the separatist counties of southeastern Ukraine, unanimously condemned by the Western countries, in Donetsk.

As is well known, Gyöngyösi, who is currently the president of the Jobbik - Conservatives party and a member of the European Parliament, said in 2012 in the Parliament's plenary debate on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict that »It would be time to assess the fact that the people living here , and especially how many people of Jewish origin are in the Hungarian Parliament and the Hungarian government who represent a certain national security risk for Hungary. I think Hungary owes such a survey to Hungary.« - reminded Tamás Deutsch.

The representative emphasized that

the Jewish denominations in Hungary condemned as one man Ambassador Pressman's impudent gesture, testifying to complete political blindness, and confirmed their distance from the Jobbik-Conservatívok party and its representatives.

András Heisler , the president of the Association of Hungarian Jewish Religious Communities (Mazsihisz), who was also among the dinner guests, stated in relation to the case that Mazsihisz continues to not engage in any kind of dialogue with Jobbik, and Gyöngyösi is considered an undesirable person in Jewish circles.

Tamás Róna , the joint participation of the president of Mazsihisz and the leader of Jobbik in such an event "fundamentally upsets the real, believing Jewish community in Hungary".

Slomó Köves , head of the United Hungarian Israelite Community

"Márton Gyöngyösi at the Pesach Seder table is about like a pedophile guest of honor at a conference on kindergarten education or the leader of the "popular Ku-Klux-Klan" at the Martin Luther Day celebration. It is incomprehensible, and letting it in is tactless and impolite".

According to Tamás Deutsch, the blunder of David Pressman, the American ambassador in Budapest, is aggravated by the fact that Márton Gyöngyösi was the only politician attending the dinner, which means that by inviting him he gave the anti-Semitic party leader a special status, at the same time legitimizing the anti-Semitic expressions of Jobbik and Gyöngyösi. As he put it:

David Pressman's insensitivity reveals that the American ambassador in Budapest is biased against the Hungarian government to such an extent that neither the anti-Semitism of the Jobbik leader, nor his active support for Putin, nor the sensitivity of the Jewish community in Hungary prevents him from calling Márton Gyöngyösi a seat him at a table with Jewish leaders on the occasion of a Jewish holiday.

According to him, Pressman's behavior is all the more incomprehensible, since previous ambassadors of the United States of America are highly respected in Hungary, and the government and governing parties see him as a representative of one of the country's most important allies.
