After his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Emmanuel Macron came under sharp criticism. The French head of state offended the European and American left by declaring that Europe must represent its own geopolitical strategy and cannot act as a vassal of the USA on the issue of Taiwan. In connection with the incident, hirado.hu asked Austrian member of the European Parliament Harald Vilimsky about the independence of Europe, the growing tension between the United States and China, the European interest in Taiwan, and the possible end of the war in Ukraine, from which we share some details.

– What justifies the Western European behavior that some Western leaders visit China in order to educate their leaders?

– The European liberal left believes in its moral superiority, and thus in a kind of conversion of other states to this left-liberal worldview. We see this in all political and social situations, whether inside or outside Europe. The Hungarians could say a thing or two about this, since they are constant victims of this pseudo-moral superiority.

– Is it conceivable that we will not find a solution to the conflict in Ukraine either, and that it will drag on just like the migration crisis?

- The current hardened fronts, as well as the leading European governments and the European Commission, reject peace initiatives. I see this war not only as another unsolved problem, but as a potential threat to peace, freedom and prosperity in Europe. In other words, all the principles on which European cooperation is built are at risk.

The EU centralists in Brussels and their friendly governments are under fire against all sensible voices, such as that of Prime Minister Orbán, who is demanding a cease-fire and peace.

We see this even now, which is also shown by the calls to sanction Hungary. We are seeing this war become a war of attrition with EU arms supplies and the ever-growing Russian stockpile. Places like Bahmut are turning into a second Verdun and show the futility of this war that is making mothers widows and children orphans every day. Together with Prime Minister Orbán, we, the FPÖ, call on the participants to lay down their weapons and make peace now!

– Do you see a chance for the European right to unite?

- In my opinion, the Hungarians play a central role in the creation of a large right-wing alliance, which would definitely have weight at the European level. Viktor Orbán is currently the head of the conservative and patriotic parties in Europe.

They admire the Hungarians for their pride, patriotism and courage to fight against the left-wing liberal and Eurocentric system representing the interests of their people. For the cooperation to succeed, it is necessary to emphasize what we have in common.

This means, among other things, that we stand up for a Europe of sovereign nations, against the further influx of illegal immigrants and the EU's policy of acceptance. We believe that European cooperation must be restored to the values in the spirit of which the community was founded: peace, freedom and prosperity.

Hungary led by the Fidesz government could do something new and everyone would follow. We should all take advantage of this opportunity. We must put aside the existing antagonisms and save the continent from the poisonous left-liberal ideology.
