The Ukrainian president's concept of "just peace" rewrites the real concept of "just peace" by seeking exclusivity instead of compromise. Many young Ukrainians and Russians have already - and still do - this way of thinking.

Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, special envoy of Pope Francis, traveled to Ukraine to negotiate a peace favorable to the Ukrainians. Among other things, the cardinal negotiated with Volodymyr Zelenskyi, which the Ukrainian president reported on Telegram .

Zelenskyi wrote that the situation in Ukraine and humanitarian assistance were also discussed during the meeting. As during his previous visit to the Vatican, the president made it clear now that Ukraine is happy when other states make efforts for peace, but

"since the war is taking place on our territory, the algorithm for achieving peace can only be Ukrainian"

- he wrote in his post and added - "only joint efforts, diplomatic isolation and pressure on Russia can influence the aggressor and bring about a just peace".

During his visit, Vatican Cardinal Dmitro Lubinec also met with the Ukrainian Commissioner for Human Rights. They talked with him about the return of Ukrainian children abducted by the Russians during the war, as well as the case of detained civilians, including several Catholic believers.

Cardinal Matteo Zuppi arrived in the Ukrainian capital on Monday with the aim of getting to know the position of the Ukrainian leadership in relation to how they envision the creation of a just peace.

According to a report from the Catholic news agency Kathpress, he visited Bucsa near Kiev, where, according to the Ukrainian authorities, Russian troops killed around four hundred civilians last April. The cardinal visited the church in Bucsa where the murders classified as war crimes by the Ukrainians were documented.
