Another rift between Hungary and Ukraine: according to press reports, the Russian Orthodox Church handed over at least 11 prisoners of war to Hungary. It is known that the decision was not agreed with Ukraine.
In a statement published on Thursday evening, the Russian Orthodox Church writes that "with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, through the mediation of the Russian Orthodox Church, within the framework of inter-church cooperation, at the request of the Hungarian side, a group of Ukrainian prisoners of war from Transcarpathia who took part in the hostilities were transported to Hungary ".
The Index also quotes the sources of the RBC Ukraine medium, who know that the decision was not agreed with Ukraine. According to Espresso
the Russian Orthodox Church handed over at least 11 prisoners of war to Hungary.
They added that the aid organization of the Sovereign Order of Malta would be one of the mediators.
"These soldiers are all Ukrainian citizens"
"The handover of the prisoners of war was by no means coordinated with Ukraine, its expediency is explained by the military's "origin from the Carpathians". It is important to understand that these soldiers are all Ukrainian citizens, therefore
their transfer to any third country is impossible without the consent and direct involvement of Ukraine"
an insider pointed out.
