Hungarian national team player Attila Szalai continues his career in the Hoffenheim football team.

The transfer of the 25-year-old defender was announced by the German club on its social media page, and the video also featured Ádám Szalai, who played for Hoffenheim between 2014 and 2019. According to the recording, "a new Szalai has arrived in town", who will play in jersey number 41.

The central defender, who was educated in Göd, became a professional player in Rapid Wien, after the Austrian club he played in Mezőkövesden and then in Apollon Limassol in Cyprus before moving to Turkey in January 2021, while he played in 117 matches in Fenerbahçe.

According to the information of the German news agency dpa, Attila Szalai signed a four-year contract, thus committing himself until June 30, 2027.

According to press reports, the 35-times capped Szalai signed from Fenerbahce to the Bundesliga for around 12 million euros, making him the fourth most expensive Hungarian footballer after Dominik Szoboszlai (Liverpool, 70 million euros), Balázs Dzudsák (Dinamo Moscow, 20 million euros) and Milos Kerkez (Bournemouth, 18 million euros).
