A Roman Catholic kindergarten and nursery school were built with the support of the Hungarian government, where 180 children were educated in a Christian spirit.

Hungarian-language education not only has the power to preserve identity, but also has practical benefits, as children acquire the knowledge needed for their intellectual development much more easily by thinking and studying in their mother tongue, said Péter Szilágyi, Deputy State Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office, on Wednesday in Csíkszereda.

The deputy state secretary responsible for national policy pointed out at the handover ceremony of the Roman Catholic kindergarten and nursery school named Angyalkert, which was built with Hungarian state support: the Hungarian government believes that nurturing the mother tongue is the key to national existence and survival, and attachment to the Hungarian language begins in early childhood.

For this reason, the State Secretariat for National Policy has been working for many years to make quality mother-tongue education available to all Hungarian children in the Carpathian Basin and worldwide.

Within the framework of the kindergarten development program in the Carpathian Basin, which was launched seven years ago, the government supported the implementation of around 900 investments, the vast majority of which already serve the Hungarian communities in the Carpathian Basin. In Hargita County alone, 90 kindergarten and daycare developments were started with HUF 5 billion.

The primary goal of the program is to break down the physical barriers for Hungarian parents living abroad that make it difficult for their children to access quality mother-tongue education.

Today, the strengthened network of kindergarten institutions in the Carpathian Basin has become a tangible reality, modern, high-quality education institutions have been created that make it much easier for families to choose a kindergarten and school, explained the deputy state secretary.

Thirteen years ago, the Hungarian government committed itself to the preservation of the foreign parts of the nation, and the Hungarian churches continue to be a stable support for the strengthening of the Hungarian communities. Péter Szilágyi thanked the parents who insist on passing on the mother tongue culture, and the kindergarten teachers who operate the lowest level of Hungarian-language education.

I am confident that within the walls of the institution, the youngest citizens of Csíkszereda will not only gain a lot of experience, but will make lifelong friendships and further strengthen our national identity and our nation - concluded the Deputy State Secretary responsible for national policy.

The Angyalkert kindergarten and daycare center, built by the Szent Kreszt parish in Csíkszereda with Hungarian state support, was blessed and consecrated by Gergely Kovács, archdiocese of Gyulafehérvár, at a ceremony held in the courtyard of the new educational institution on Wednesday.

The church-owned educational institution, which aims to educate 180 children in a Christian spirit, starting with four nursery and four kindergarten groups, is operated by the Csíkszered municipality based on a 25-year agreement with the church.
