This has never happened before in Amsterdam: all three Jewish schools in the city remain closed on Friday, they dare not open them for fear of atrocities. The leaders of the institution refer to disturbing messages published on social media and the lack of armed guards.

All three Jewish schools in Amsterdam will remain closed on Friday, because the government did not provide permanent supervision, and the students are afraid of possible atrocities. This has never happened in the city before, reports Het Parool.

In their joint statement, the institutions indicated that they decided on online education for the safety of children and staff because they do not want to take any risks. The head of one school said they wanted security like in Belgium, where armed guards stand at the gates all day, not just at the start of school and at the end of the day.

The timing is no accident: Hamas called for the solidarity of the entire Arab and Muslim world by Friday, and many demonstrations are being organized in Europe.

The schools also wrote a letter to parents, in which they also justify the closure with disturbing messages published on social media.

The Amsterdam mayor's office said that they had increased their "visible and invisible" presence throughout the country in cooperation with the police and counter-terrorism units.
