More and more shops are announcing that they will not open on December 24. Lidl was the first to announce that they will not be opening on Christmas Eve in order to give employees a relaxing break. The initiative was subsequently joined by Rossmann, Penny, Mountex and Jysk. The Hungarian stores of DIEGO, which operates a fully domestically owned international franchise trade network, are closed not only on Christmas Eve, but also on December 31. Changing the opening hours for the end-of-year holidays has already come up in previous years, but so far, nearly 80 Hungarian family businesses operating DIEGO 100 stores in Hungary have decided on this individually.

"We jointly and unanimously decided to give rest to the store workers on both the 24th and 31st, who have had a very difficult and tough year," said Balázs Varga, DIEGO's managing director. In this way, employees and operating franchise partners alike can prepare for what is perhaps the most important family holiday of the year with those closest to them, the company's announcement reads.
