The water level of the Danube reaches its peak on Thursday: the river has already overwhelmed the deeper parts of the Római-bank, but Gergely Karácsony does not care about the citizens at risk except for one administrative step, the capital does not take its share of the flood protection tasks.

Although Mayor Gergely Karácsony raised flood protection preparedness to the second level in the northern Buda flood protection section, and the Buda and Pest lower quays were already closed to vehicle traffic on Monday, the capital's management does not deal with the Római-Part. However, families with small children attacked the Romans, many admire the flood with dogs or bicycles, not caring about the real dangers.

As the Danube flooded, onlookers and disaster tourists also appeared. They walk along the shore, very young children are allowed by their parents to wander along the water's edge.

Others take selfies, take photos, and jump on the steps of restaurants submerged under water, even though you can't see under the water, you don't know where the steps end.

Gergely Karácsony is not at all concerned with the protection of the two thousand people living on the Római coast, and he only has to close it off from office above 7 meters, but this step would still be necessary out of humanity.

"At the very least, public area supervision should be ordered, or a tape barrier should be used to indicate that no one who has no business can walk in here now! Because the onlookers endanger their own health and are also in the way during the construction of the protection," drew the attention of Dr. Győző Antal Búzás is a local resident and the president of the Association for the Roman Coast.

"Here, in Rome, there is a state of emergency, if it is announced, if it is not! You shouldn't let a small child out on the edge of the river, because if he gets scared by something, for example a dog - many people let their pets run around without a leash - or if for some reason he gets dizzy in the Danube, he immediately pulls the puffer jacket down into the depths. It sinks in so much that you don't even know where to jump after it! Let's remember the unfortunate policeman who fell into the Danube at Soroksár in a cotton-lined jacket. He died in an instant, because these clothes absorb the water, it doesn't even matter if someone is a good swimmer," informed Búzás.

"We are building the dam ourselves, after the capital does not take its share of the protection tasks to protect our properties and property from the destructive power of the water. At the moment, however, we also have to pay attention to onlookers to avoid accidents during loading. And this slows down the construction of the dam," complained Búzás.

There are nearly 1,200 kilometers of flood protection preparedness in Hungary. The water level will be high not only on the Danube, but also on the Tisza, Rába and Ipoly. The Danube near Budapest is expected to peak on Thursday, the BRFK also issued a notice in which they ask the population not to go near the water even on foot, it is also dangerous to stay on the built wharf.

The expected height of the water changes from minute to minute.

Based on the current forecasts, the lower quays can be opened to vehicle traffic on the morning of December 30 at the earliest, a decision will be made later on the exact date depending on the flood situation.
