The company operating the management and holiday center opened in Marosúvár last May reported more than 10 million lei in revenue and 1.6 million lei in profit. The salt spa, referred to as the investment of the year 2023 in Fehér County, thus lived up to the expectations attached to it.

The Austro-Hungarian Monarchy expected a "resurrection" from the new facility, but even during the Ceaușescu dictatorship, the small town, which was once famous for its salt mine and soda, and which even during the Ceaușescu dictatorship was famous for its salt mine and soda, has "fallen into disrepair" and hosted Hungary's first salt spa - so there was something to build on.

Among other things, salt and fresh water, indoor and outdoor pools, saunas, treatment rooms with modern equipment, fitness room, sports fields, restaurant, bar, playground, parking lot await those who want to relax from May 15 in the new Marosújvár spa, which

it was built over five years and cost 6.7 million euros, with another million spent on equipment.

With the investment realized as a result of the agreement and joint financial efforts of the local and Fehér County Council back in 2015, the initiators mainly targeted the residents of the region, in addition to the locals, especially the residents of the neighboring counties of Cluj and Maros on the left bank of the Maros, 24 kilometers south of Torda, Nagyenyed 21 km to the northeast, in a settlement with a Hungarian population of around 9 percent.

They "targeted" well, as the investment turned out to be a hit, and the new spa was surrounded by enormous interest from the moment of its opening.

The numbers testify to this: more than 200,000 visitors were recorded in just over half a year. According to the recently updated data, the facility already generated 10,012,000 lei (slightly more than 2 million euros) in revenue - because of the new, increased numbers, the White County Council had to amend its budget report for the year 2023 as well. According to the company operating the spa, which was founded jointly by the local and county governments, the profit is 1,638,690 lei (330,000 euros) from the revenue. Knowing this, the amount allocated for the further development of the complex was increased from the previously requested almost one million lei to 1.6 million. This was already the second budget amendment, as the budget amounts were also changed in November; originally, only half of this amount of annual income was expected, the Adevărul portal reported.

The operators also need the money, as they are planning further large-scale investments in Marosúvár: among other things, the construction of an adventure spa, a hotel, event halls in the vicinity of the spa, and at the same time they would also carry out landscaping and building renovation works in the area.

In the meantime, a private investor is also planning hotels nearby: the eight, 3- and 4-star buildings will have a total of 275 rooms, spa, outdoor and indoor pools, conference rooms, catering units will be available to tourists. And as a matter of fact, the new spa deserves further development, as it has been proven in the case of the facility, as has been proven in so many investments in Romania: money cannot replace the knowledge needed to build a spa; a little knowledge is essential for its operation, and of course you have to get rid of the nonsense that hinders the development of domestic tourism.
