The Polish thief was herding the animal in the stairwell when the neighbors noticed the strange phenomenon and informed the police. The authorities found out that the horse was stolen, and its owner had already reported it missing.
The 19-year-old man can face up to three months to five years in prison. The incident took place in Wejherowo, Poland.
At first, the police thought they had received a call from a burglar, when the informant on the other end of the line said that he saw a suspicious man trying to lead his horse upstairs to his apartment. The arriving police officers were shocked to find that the caller presented a real problem, and that the young man was trying to bring the horse up to his apartment while arguing with the neighbors.
The police found out that the horse, worth more than HUF one million, had been stolen, which its owner had already reported earlier.
The animal was safely returned to its owner, and the 19-year-old man was detained on charges of theft.
