No matter how much the left incites and campaigns against utility cuts, it's hard to argue with the numbers. In March, the average price of residential natural gas in Budapest was the lowest among the 29 European capitals examined, and electricity was the cheapest among the EU capitals in the Hungarian capital based on the international price comparison study of the Hungarian Energy and Public Utilities Regulatory Office (MEKH) in March.

According to MEKH's announcement on Monday, based on end-user price information calculated on the basis of data from service providers and regulatory authorities, Hungarian residential consumers can still calculate with the lowest energy prices in Europe.

Looking at the average price of natural gas provided to residential consumers, Budapest continues to maintain its leading position, natural gas here is the cheapest among the examined capitals, at 2.83 euro cents per kilowatt hour.

The average residential price of electricity in Budapest was 10.47 euro cents per kilowatt hour, which is the second lowest price among the capitals included in the survey, while the cheapest among the EU capitals. Consumers pay less for electricity only in Belgrade.

The study compares the flow data of the 27 European Union capitals, as well as Belgrade and London, and the examined consumers are the average consumers of the capitals.
