This year, Nagyecsed in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county is the first stop of the nationwide screening bus program involving sixty-two settlements jointly launched by the National Public Health Center (NNK), the Hungarian Maltese Charity Service and the György Gottsegen National Institute of Cardiology, whose opening press conference was held on Monday at the Hungarian-Romanian in a small town near the border.

Orsolya Surján, Deputy Chief Medical Officer of the country "Bringing Screening Tests Locally ", said that the program, which started in 2019 and includes multiple screenings, supports health preservation and prevention in the catchment areas.

With the screening buses, as part of the general health assessment, body weight analysis, blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol level measurements, ECG and gynecological tests, and if necessary, a cardiology specialist consultation are also provided, said the deputy national chief medical officer.

The purpose of the program, in addition to popularizing screening tests and raising awareness of health care, is to screen for diseases as early as possible and to start the necessary treatments on time.

This year, screening buses will visit 62 settlements in 14 counties, for a total of eighty screening days, he informed.

In the first year of the campaign, which is carried out in partnership with the county health institutions and government offices, as well as local governments, screenings were held in sixteen settlements in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county, in which one thousand five hundred people participated - reminded the county deputy chief medical officer Judit Kerékyártó, adding that this year in seventeen towns and villages in Szabolcs there will be tests twenty-seven times.

Judit Polaneczky , director of nursing at the György Gottsegen National Cardiovascular Institute, said at the press conference that they have been participating in this program for the third year, during which more than five thousand people were examined, including those who had to call an ambulance or an ambulance helicopter immediately.

Lajos Kovács , the independent mayor of Nagyecsed, said that the basic care is provided in their settlement, but the screenings and specialist care available by the screening buses are otherwise only available in Mátészalka, Fehérgyarmat or Nyíregyháza, so this program is a great help to them.
