The tender for Roma nationality grants for the implementation period between January 1 and December 31, 2022 has been announced. This year, the budget support amount has increased, so HUF 620 million is available in the four sub-programs of the tender. - announced the General Directorate of Social Opportunities.

Applicants can spend HUF 200 million (minimum HUF 300,000, maximum HUF 2 million can be applied for) to support Roma ethnic NGOs, and HUF 250 million to organize Roma tradition preservation camps (minimum HUF 500,000, maximum HUF 2 million).

HUF 160 million is available for the promotion of Roma culture: a minimum of HUF 300,000 and a maximum of HUF 1.2 million can be requested. 10 million forints can be spent on the further training of Roma teachers (a minimum of 300,000 and a maximum of 4 million forints can be applied for).

Attila Sztojka, the government commissioner responsible for Roma relations, the head of the General Directorate for Social Opportunities, was quoted as saying at a press conference in Miskolc that the application for grants for the Roma nationality is a "splendid example of the stability" that the government provides to the Roma nationality every year.

The purpose of the grants is to preserve the self-identity of the Hungarian Roma nationality, to represent their interests, to nurture their language, culture, traditions, spiritual and physical memories and to pass them on to the next generations, whether through education, camping, or the organization of cultural programs, they wrote.
