On the part of the institutions of the European Union (EU), a conceptual procedure, a "witch hunt" is underway against Hungary, which should be put to an end, stated the French and Spanish delegation members of the European Parliament's LIBE (Civil Law, Home Affairs and Justice) committee visiting Hungary.

Nicolas Bay, the French vice-president of the Identity and Democracy group, and Jorge Buxadé Villalba, the Spanish member of the European Conservatives and Reformers faction, spoke to journalists about this on Friday in Budapest, after the delegation of the LIBE committee took part in a three-day visit to Hungary. Nicolas Bay stated: the proceedings against Hungary are not taking place within the framework of Article 7, but rather a "conceptual lawsuit" initiated by the European Parliament in order to attack the Hungarian government.

According to the politician, three-quarters of the people interviewed during the delegation's three-day visit to Hungary - politicians, civilians, judges and many others - can be linked to the Hungarian opposition, so they do not adequately represent Hungarian society. According to him, in three days they could not give a single concrete example of how the rule of law was damaged in Hungary.

He noted: at the same time, the opposition primary indicates that democracy is alive and well in Hungary. As he said, they heard a lot of criticism, including that the Hungarian government does not accept mandatory migrant quotas, or that it created a law that protects families and children from LGBTQ propaganda.

He emphasized that they also met the judges of the Kúria, the Minister of Justice Judit Varga and the Minister of the Interior Sándor Pintér, which proved to them that Hungary is a properly functioning democracy where the judiciary is independent. He stated: the political attacks by the EU institutions against Hungary are bullying, which must stop now.

Jorge Buxadé Villalba drew the conclusion of the visit as follows: it has been proven that Hungary has a perfectly functioning democracy, which works much better even compared to other member states.

According to him, the only interest of the left-wing and liberal parties, including the People's Party, is to use the EU institutional framework to defeat the Hungarian government, Fidesz and Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. According to him, this is also true for the proceedings against Poland or for any politician who stands up for traditions and national identity.

The two representatives also issued a joint statement to the press, in which they wrote: the original purpose of the visit was to investigate the rule of law problems in Hungary that the European left and the Brussels committee had been talking about for years, but it became completely clear that it was actually about a "Stalinist trial". it's about

They believe that the aim of the "Brussels and left-wing campaign" against Hungary is to destabilize a sovereign government that has unquestionable support among the voters. "His only and true crime is that he defends the Hungarian people, their national and European identity, conservative values, the family, and says no to mass immigration. The time has come to put an end to the witch hunt against Hungary!" - the two politicians wrote in a joint statement.
