According to the former mayor, every day something comes to light that Karácsony refutes, and then the next day it always turns out that these refutations do not hold up.

István Tarlós, former mayor of Budapest, gave an interview to ATV. In the interview, it was discussed, among other things, that the governing parties can win in '22 even without Budapest, he spoke about the real estate scams around the City Hall, and he also shared his thoughts on the stakes of next year's election.

Tarlós about the sale of the Town Hall

The ATV journalist first asked the former mayor about "is there a case?", to which Tarlós explained that there is a case every day, "guaranteed until April". "First of all, there is now a serious discrepancy between the mayor's statements every day. For now, it is not very possible to find out what the truth is. Day after day, something comes to light that the mayor denies with wringing his hands and proves the opposite.

Then the next day it turns out that these refutations don't stand on their feet"

he said. "It seems that there is confusion and confusion in the capital regarding this matter. You should just ask Karácsony. Didn't you say something about knowing the owners of the voices?" the former mayor asked the question everyone is interested in.

Regarding the question of whether the City Hall can be sold at all, he said that there are three parts to the case. A practical, a spiritual and a legal part.

"The Town Hall is a baroque monument building, the ground underneath is also a monument area, the old city wall stretches there. Besides, the symbol of a capital city is the City Hall. If you like, you can also dismiss the pathetic sentence - because it is true - that the City Hall is a symbolic building somewhere for every capital city, and indeed for every Hungarian citizen. That's why it's very daring to suggest that someone wants to sell it"

he explained.

The courage of fools, if someone seriously thinks of such a thing"

- he said, allegedly in his own childhood language.

About the opposition

"This is not enough for governing," he remarked about the fact that the only common denominator of the opposition is the desire for power and the morbid hatred of Fidesz and the Prime Minister. "In the "person" of DK and Momentum, the left-wing and liberal majority will clearly form the parliamentary majority and the government majority. They are now propagating that Péter Márki-Zay is so right-wing, so conservative, a kind of Christian," he said of the left's current candidate for prime minister. The argument in favor of the Catholic right-wing of Péter Márki-Zay, that the father of seven children dismissed as follows:

"First of all, they leave the seven children. That someone has seven children is a nice thing, but it does not automatically follow that he is Catholic. Maybe "János Kovács" has nine children and is a convinced atheist."

About next year's elections and money disappearances

When asked whether the governing parties could win the 2022 parliamentary elections without Budapest, with only the countryside, Tarlós said: "Especially if we also take into account the list votes in the capital, then yes". The journalist noted that HUF 17 billion fell out of the City Hall's coffers due to the exemption of the business tax.

Don't feed me! I was the mayor for a decade, so don't act as if you have to convince the president of the Ló utca NGO, because the situation is not the same!

Even this city administration has been denying for at least a year that we left around 200 billion in reserves there. Do they come with the Chain Bridge? How many times would the price have fit into this money? We have already talked about the "hipa". They had an agreement about the Athletics World Cup. It must also be observed for Christmas. And the pandemic put a much greater burden on the state than on the capital," he said.

Tarlós about the campaign

"I don't want to play a spectacular role in the live campaign. Don't angry opposition journalists sometimes tell me that I promised that I wouldn't hurt Karácsony, why do I always have to make a statement?

If you have noticed, I usually comment when Christmas says something about our period or me personally.

I said right after the election that I didn't want to deal with him or current political issues in the capital. Of course, if our cycle is affected by something that is unfair or that I think is unfair, then no one should expect me to remain silent. I said that too. I don't understand either

why shouldn't the mayor of Budapest, who was still in office recently, speak, if in the meantime the image of Kuncze, who has been out of politics for 12 years, or Ildikó Lendvai hardly disappears from the screen.

As for the campaign as a whole, I certainly support the current government with some intensity. Not to do anyone a personal favor, but the issues that affect the future of the generation of many children and grandchildren (illegal border crossings, nation-state, culture, family model, family policy) are clearly represented by the current government and much more in the interest of the future generation than the opposition. he would do it, not even denied by him.

May God protect us from a change of government next year!"
