The National Food Chain Security Office (Nébih) removed more than 40 tons of expired food from circulation at a site in Pest County after inspecting several warehouses of a company. According to the agency's information, among the products there were also foods that had expired 5-6 years ago.

During the inspection of Törökbálint-based Everest Top Trading 2014 Kft., which lasted for several days, the inspectors found 419 items, a total of 40,531 kilograms, of food intended for distribution, with an expired shelf life and expiration date. Among the products were, for example, cocoa with an expiration date of 2015, candy with a shelf life of 2016, cake coating, cake glaze, broth cubes, baking powder, cake flour with an expiration date of 2017, but there were also animal products with an expiration date of several months.

During the procedure, the official inspectors prohibited the placing on the market of the infringing products with immediate effect, ordered their withdrawal from the market, and ordered them to be placed under official lock-up. The procedure and the determination of the fine are in progress, Nébih announced.
